What’s Going on with Martin Reads?

It has been a busy year for Martin Reads. In the Spring, we hosted a Reverse Visioning event and brought more partners to the table. Over the summer, local government and the School District adopted literacy as a community priority with Proclamations. In September, we hosted a Screening event for “Sentenced” with a panel discussion and insight into the specifics of the literacy issues in Martin County. 

From the screening of “Sentenced”, many expressed a desire to volunteer assisting children with their reading. We are currently working with the school district as well as community partners to develop a streamlined process for volunteering. For those that missed the screening, “Sentenced” is available on the Peacock Streaming service.

We promoted BookSmart as a free digital resource for young readers and have seen a 60% increase in BookSmart usage.
